About Lt. Abner Doubleday

General Abner Doubleday, nicknamed "Forty Eight Hours" (for obvious reasons), was an American war hero who became principally remembered as the "Father of Baseball" in Cooperstown, New York in the year 1839. But little did historians know that this baseball originator was not far from our historic lighthouse when he conjured the first pitch, first strike and first out. Let's take a tour into fact and legend of the general and his brief tour of Point Isabel in the 19th century.
